Rock Church
Vision 2012

2012 was an extraordinary
year for the Rock Church.

Our desire to establish Pervasive Hope in every street and every person was seen through the countless hours of service and dedication this church gave to God’s work in this city. I want to thank our dedicated volunteers, our generous givers and hard working staff who, together, helped to achieve great things for the name of Christ.

This annual report accounts our efforts throughout last year and is a statement of how we have used the resources God has entrusted us with. I think you will be excited to see how our church is growing as a multi-site campus, the number of outreach opportunities we have been involved in, and the success of our Pervasive Hope campaign. It truly was a great year!

But what excites me the most is the number of lives that have been transformed through the power of Jesus Christ. Through Rock Services and Outreaches, ministry teams participated in more than 7,800 people making a first-time decision for Christ last year alone. This is why we do what we do.

I hope you enjoy the highlights of what has happened at the Rock in 2012. None of this would have been possible without your obedience to God, giving your time, talent, and treasure to establish His work in San Diego and beyond.

I look forward to reporting to you what God did in 2013!

What We Believe

GOD's Word

Is True

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, which He uses to reveal Himself to us, increase our faith, and provide direction for our lives.

The Bible teaches that there is only one God who exists in three distinct persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. This doctrine is called the Trinity.

Believe, Repent

& Follow Jesus

We believe that God created the human race to have fellowship with Him, but that our sin separates us from Him who is holy and righteous. God loves us so much that He sent His only Son, Jesus Christ, to die for our sins so that we might be reconciled to Him. We believe that repentance from sin and belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior is the only way to be saved from eternal judgment.

A Giver's Perspective
The Peterson Story

Initiative 1
Multiple Rock Campuses

Imagine if there was a Rock Campus in every neighborhood in San Diego. With every new Rock Church campus, local residents will be mobilized to serve the communities where they work, play, and live. As of 2012, our multi-site campuses include North County in San Marcos and the groundwork was laid for our East County Campus.

Initiative 2
24/7 Online Church

We want to make hope available at anytime to anyone online. Our online church, along with video-on-demand and mobile applications engage the Rock’s global audience enabling them to interact and connect regardless of where they live. In 2012, we have an average of 4,025 weekly viewers from from 124 countries for our live services.

David's Story

Initiative 3
Global Evangelism Strategy

The Rock Church partners with global churches and missions to equip them with Do Something Church strategies. These partnerships provide a template for them to be the first responders in their own hurting neighborhoods, in the US and around the world.

Initiative 4
Less Debt = More Hope

The funds raised through our Pervasive Hope campaign is helping to reduce our mortgage. This is allowing more of the church’s resources to be used directly for life transforming ministry and community service. Through the giving efforts in 2012, it will be possible in early 2013 to pay down and re-finance our building loan, saving over $1 million a year in principal and interest.

Letter From CFO

“Honor The Lord With Your Wealth and With The Best Part Of Everything you Produce”. Proverbs 3:9 Nlt

Thank you for taking a look at our annual report! As Chief Financial Officer of the Rock Church, I have been given the incredible opportunity and responsibility to make sure that we bring honor to the Lord with our finances. With over 30 years of experience in the accounting field, I am privileged to lead the Rock Church Financial Team in providing excellence in all financial areas.

God commanded the nation of Israel to “bring the choice first fruits of your soil into the house of the Lord your God” (Exodus 23:19a). Here at the Rock, we understand that as stewards of His resources, we are representatives of Christ and seek to bring glory to Him with uncompromising integrity with the “best and first” of what we receive.

Each year, including 2012, we have our consolidated financial statements voluntarily audited by Capin Crouse, LLP, one of the country’s leading independent accounting firms, who has served Christian non-profit organizations for over 40 years. We are pleased to have received an “unqualified opinion.” In addition, in 2012 Swenson Advisors, LLP – a respected San Diego based audit and consulting firm – performed certain internal audit projects for the Rock to ensure best business practices for accounting and internal controls. If you would like more information regarding our audited statements, or if you have any questions, please email us at

It is such an honor to see how the Lord is working in the heart of this church and I look forward to reporting back to you how God moved us in ways we never imagined in 2013.
